Many users are getting broken Moon Lanterns; the damaged lantern won’t function in the haunted areas. You’ll probably need something like pixie dust or a different magical item to light it up.

How do you get the Moon Lantern in BG3?
In Baldur’s Gate 3, like in many parts of the game, there are different ways to find a Moon Lantern. I found one by exploring the Underdark below the Goblin Camp.
This is one way to get to Moonrise Tower. On this path, you’ll end up in a fight between rebel goblins and their boss, the True Soul leader. To save him, you need to find some bombs and rescue him. If you choose to steal from then you should try using stealth mode or defeat him, you’ll get a damaged Moon Lantern.
The catch?
This broken lantern won’t work in the lands with a curse. You might need something like pixie dust to fix it, but I haven’t found that item in the game yet. It might be better to look for another way to get a fully working Moon Lantern.
How to Fix the Broken Moon Lantern in Baldur’s Gate 3?
By now you should know that there’s no way to fix the Broken Monn Lantern but you can find a complete Moon Lantern through other routes.
Choose any of the three paths to get to the cursed lands. Once there, use a torch or cast either the Light or Produce Flame spell to see through the darkness. Head to the Last Light Inn and talk to Jaheira for safety.
She will then give you an extra mission: assist with an ambush. Head southwest to that spot, and you’ll encounter enemies who possess a fully functioning Moon Lantern. You can either persuade them to hand it over or defeat them to claim it for yourself in Baldur’s Gate 3.
A tip: Free the pixie trapped inside the lantern. She’ll thank you by gifting you a special bell. When you ring it, you’ll receive a lasting blessing, similar to the protection the Moon Lantern offers.
