As per the recent reports by WABetaInfo, they will be releasing support for customizable avatars in the latest 2.22.23.9 beta on Android, but only for some users.
Specific Android users who will be able to use the WhatsApp Avatar feature will be able to customize their own according to how they look and if you have been using this feature on Instagram or Facebook Messenger then you must be familiar with a lot.

Although there’s no official date for the latest WhatsApp update it will be released in a week or two for all Android users and when it comes to iOS then we aren’t sure if it’s coming to iOS or not.
