Among the numerous beasts, Mooncalfs are relatively easy to locate and catch. However, to find them, you need to know where to look.

Where to find a Mooncalf Den?
To acquire a Mooncalf in Hogwarts Legacy, you will need to finish the quest named “The Elf, The Nab Sack, and The Loom.” During this quest, Deek will guide you through the process of capturing the creature
Mooncalf is very easy to find and you can find one near the North Ford Bog Entrance Foo Flame:
- Head south from the entrance
- Remember that Mooncalfs are nocturnal creatures and are only active at night
- If you reach the den during the day, you can advance time by opening up your map and clicking on the “Wait” button to make it a night
- To catch one you need to use the Disillusionment spell to sneak up on the Mooncalf. This spell will make you invisible, allowing you to approach the creature without alerting it.
There are more Mooncalf Dens around the map that you can find as you progress through the story.

Shiny Mooncalf
Males and females Mooncalf are the same size and come in a variety of different colors. However, the shiny mooncalf is white in color with blue eyes.

Hogwarts Legacy is available now on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S, PS4. And Xbox One ports are scheduled to release on April 4, and the Nintendo Switch version arrives on July 25, 2023.
