Reddit Places: A Digital History is STILL LIVE!

Spread the love

Logged in to your Reddit account and noticed something different in the menu?

Well, for those of you who are not daily users, go watch yourself and give your contribution.

One thing is for sure: It’s FUN!

What’s it?

The r/Place board first launched on April 1st, 2017 featured a large, white pixel grid.

Reddit Places: A Digital History is STILL LIVE!

Logged in Reddit users can place a tile once every 5 minutes to avoid spam. The last time it went live, it became one of the most popular things with over a million participants.

This time is no different Reddit asks us to create anything together as a community and it’s an everchanging canvas.

So many users contributed that Reddit had to DOUBLE the canvas size.

Just looking at it is so pleasing.

The community really shines here, and they have made some jaw-dropping arts that are too good to be true.

People love it so much that they are asking it to happen yearly, and it really is FUN!

There are some annoyances as bots are not properly taken care of and kill the element of a community-made canvas.

And communities try to paint their own by destroying others’ art. Well, that may be the beauty of this board too?

What do you think?

This is an April Fool’s Dat initiative and will last for another 2 days until April 5th at midnight ET. We all have witnessed many things being formed and destroyed. There’s a lot more to come.

Go check it yourself, and let us know what do you love the most?
