Resetera, a popular video game forum, has made the decision to completely ban all discussions related to the upcoming open-world Harry Potter action RPG, Hogwarts Legacy. The game, developed by Avalanche Software, has been a source of controversy due to its association with Harry Potter creator J.K. Rowling’s transphobic comments.
Despite the excitement for the game, many individuals have called for boycotts in response to Rowling’s statements. In light of this, Resetera has decided to prohibit any discussions or posts about the game on its platform. The move is aimed at creating a safe and inclusive space for all users, regardless of their gender identity or beliefs.

The decision was made by the forum’s moderators who believe that Rowling’s views are discriminatory and that she uses her wealth and fame to push for legislation that harms the trans community. B-Dubs stated that as a result, there will be no discussion of Hogwarts Legacy allowed on the forum.
Resetera has stated that they will continue to monitor the situation and may re-evaluate their decision in the future. However, for now, discussions about Hogwarts Legacy will not be allowed on their platform.

The move comes as a reminder that the gaming industry must take a stand against hate and discrimination, and create a safe space for all players.
Despite the ongoing controversy and calls for boycotts, controversies and negative reactions to J.K. Rowling’s comments, pre-order sales for Hogwarts Legacy remain strong, indicating that there is still a significant number of fans eagerly waiting for the release of the open-world Harry Potter game.
