“We’re Making Progress With Steam
Integration. Demo Probably Next
Month”, tweets Elon

Not many people are happy bout’ it

Elon Musk says we should see Steam running on Teslas soon. Replying to @teslaownersSV and @Tesla, Mr. Musk claimed that a steam demo will probably come to Tesla motors next month.

Tesla automakers have already been entertaining their drivers through the built-in Tesla Arcade inside their autonomous vehicles, like Cuphead, Fallout Shelter, and Sonic the Hedgehog 1.

Presumably, the notion to add Steam’s digital storefront to its Tesla users fuels discontent among people.

The reason I know this is because I scraped through Reddit threads and it felt like:

people were more concerned with the “problems the vehicle has and not the trivial garbage like video games in the center console”.

There’s this person by the name of trades46 who says that “All the effort, time, and money spent here is diverted away from things that actually matter, like quality control for example”.

I find this one interesting.

A user by the name of Lacrewpandora comments, “This I’m weird, but pretty much all I do in my car is…well…drive it. Occasionally, I might stuff my face for a few minutes after going through a drive-through…but I really can’t think of any circumstance where I would just hang out in my car…to play video games. Like ever. I couldn’t imagine it.

Maybe it’s generational, but if a car salesman pointed to the main driver’s screen and said I could video games on it, I’d just laugh in his face.”

I want to read another comment to you. A Reddit user by the name drdabbles speaks out on the Steam integration:

“It was a novel experience when there was like, two simple things. But paying this much attention to this feature is such a fool’s errand for Tesla. So obviously it’s a Musk project and it’s a higher priority than making the interface not suck”.

Here’s another one. RWD-by-the-Sea comments on the subject stating,

“Yeah, it drives me crazy. They could be working to make the car actually better to drive by improving the aauto -headlights, -high beams, -wipers, etc. Instead, more video games! Fart noises! Sigh.”

Quite evident that Musk has not followed through on promises to bring Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher to newer model S and X vehicles that feature an AMD Ryzen processor and a discrete AMD RDNA 2 GPU. With Musk’s plan to introduce Steam to Tesla, he’s getting close to his goals.

It is quite evident that Steam could give users access to a multitude of game titles as was witnessed through one of his tweets in February. He wants to make high-end titles available through a Steam integration and not as individual games.

All this can be useful for your charging boredom.

But, then in Dec 2021, Tesla pulled the plug on gameplay while the vehicle was moving. This action was seen in accordance with the dissatisfaction of the National Highway Trac Safety Administration (NHTSA), which launched an investigation into whether Tesla gaming is a distraction for drivers.
