One Piece Odyssey is Fun in AI Battle Mode

Thankfully, One Piece Odyssey features an Auto Battle mechanic which allows AI to take control of the fight, and a Speed Up mechanic to reduce the time spent watching attack animations. These settings can make tedious fights as short as 30 seconds.

While these options may not be immediately accessible at the beginning of the game, they will be unlocked after 1 hour of gameplay.

The guide below will let you know how to turn on the settings and explain when you want to turn them off.

How to Turn On Auto Battle?

  1. When the battle begins you will see 3 default actions for each character: Attack, Skills, and Items.
  2. Press the triangle/Y button will show you some options: Swap Battle Crew, Check Conditions, Run Away, and Switch Battle Mode.
  3. After selecting Switch Battle Mode you will have the option to switch between Manual Battle or Auto Battle where the AI takes over
  4. Auto Battle is a convenient feature that automatically selects attacks, skills, and items for you and does it exceptionally well. In fact, it performs better and faster than manual selection

The game also offers an option to Speed up the attack animations, represented by a prompt in the lower right of the screen, which can be activated by using the right trigger. This feature shortens not only your crew’s attack animations but also the enemies, and it is highly recommended to use it once you’re tired of watching the full animations

When and How To Turn Off Auto Battle?

During the battle, you’ll notice weakness or resistance indicated by pink up arrows (good) or blue down arrows (bad) over the enemies’ icon in the upper left corner.

In challenging fights, especially boss fights, it’s important to pay attention to these icons. If your current Battle Crew isn’t dealing enough damage, you can hit the triangle/Y button to stop Auto Battle, swap your Battle Crew and select someone with a more effective attack type, then turn the Auto Battle back on.

So, if you just got your One Piecec Odyssey go ahead and try the Auto Battle mode, and do let us know in the comments section below.
