Release of Resident Evil 2,3 and 7 on PS5 & Xbox X/S with Enhancements:

To commemorate the series’ 25th anniversary, Capcom will be releasing new editions of Resident Evil games on PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and PC. It’s a great value for fans of the original games, who can enjoy new ways to play classic entries in their favorite game series.

Capcom’s releases of Resident Evil 7: Biohazard, Resident Evil 2, Resident Evil 3, and Resident Evil Village in 2017, 2019, 2020, and 2021 respectively garnered positive reviews from critics. So far, Resident Evil Village has reportedly sold more than 5.7 Million copies worldwide [as of October 14, 2023], making it Capcom’s best-selling title since 2013’s Dead Rising 3. Capcom has also announced plans for a remake of Resident Evil 4 and it will feature a darker tone and some changes from the original game.

Capcom announced that it would be making a number of improvements to these three entries. Specifically, the coming releases will include ray-tracing effects, 3D audio, higher frame rates, and haptic feedback when playing with the PlayStation 5’s DualShock controller. Anybody who has already purchased the games for previous PlayStation four or Xbox One consoles will be able to download a digital upgrade for the games when they become available on the new consoles at no extra charge.

Although no details were shared on what these upgrades will include, some ray-tracing lighting effects can clearly be seen in the screenshots Capcom shared on its Twitter page, it seems as though they were added.

There is as yet no confirmed date for the release of the enhanced versions of Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3: Nemesis, or of the seventh main title in the popular survival horror series. The three games are already available on PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4; the latter two can be played on their respective current-gen systems with an Xbox Series X/S or PlayStation 5 console.
