The Last of Us Season 2 Won’t Fully Cover The Second Game

Neil Druckmann says that The Last of Us Season 2 may not include the events covered in the second part of The Last of Us game.

After a successful premier and emotional finale ending, The Last of Us Season 2 is expected to release in the first half of January 2025. Like season 1 covering The Last of Us Part 1 by bringing the action from gave to the tv show, fans expect the second season to get the same adaption of the game by continuing the storyline.

However, the co-president of Naughty Dog, Neil Druckmann, has different plans. In an interview with GQ, the show’s creators answered the question on the show covering the second part of the game by saying, “it’s more than one season.”

One of the show’s creators, Craig Mazin, also said “You have noted correctly that we will not say how many. But more than one is factually correct.” It means The Last of Us Part II will get a pretty good stretch across the screen on HBO, and the story will be portrayed through multiple seasons.

There is also a broad chance of seeing some on-screen changes and deviation from the original story of the game in season 2, as Druckmann stated,

“Some of the stuff I’m most excited for are the changes we’ve discussed and seeing the story to come to life again in this other version. And I think it’s exciting, because it leans into those feelings you had from the game, really heavily, in a new way.”

If we look at The Last of Us Part II, the game was released seven years after the events of Part I and officially released for PlayStation in 2020. The second part of the game was much more extensive than its prequel, revealing a more complex story, more characters, a wide range of flashbacks, and some wild action. Let’s hope that season 2 brings a more exciting version of the story by keeping the golden moments from the game on the reel.
